Saturday, August 5th, 2006 - Regina, SK

I want to say that although the events I wrote about yesterday did all happen, The Plains in Regina is not as bad as I have been led to believe. Not as bad as I just let you believe. It's a nice joint.

Our contract stipulated we had to play 4 sets of music this Saturday evening. One at 5pm, the next at 10, 11:30 and 1am. The 5pm dinner set was one of my favorite sets I’ve ever played. It started-up the evenings open-jam, so the room was full of musicians.

The Saskatchewan Parliament Building where Tommy Douglas initiated National Healthcare.

As for the evening? "Toronto sucks" man, Trent, is now one of our best friends. The bikers wanted our business cards to play "charity events". Not one person heckled us. We even sold a good amount a merchandise.

Favorite tunes? Green Outside, Hold You Dear, My Boyfriend, and Sweaty Eye of the Power went over quite well. We played each more than once in an evening. A new success, was our cover of Toronto local John Rowley's "12 steps to Freedom".

Carl and I stayed up late-night with the Good Time Charlie's bar staff, hearing crazy stories of what they’ve seen in exchange for our own.

Farewell to Saskatchewan.

Sidenote: We just stopped in for gas at Indian Head, SK. "What you busy at today?" said Gord, the gas attendant. Indian Head is worth a stop if you get a chance. It has a scenic ensemble of brokedown motels and vehicles.
