July 29th, 2006 - Edmonton, AB
I’m sitting in Adam of the Uncas’ mother’s living room with the whole CM band and most of Adam’s family and Louis Uncas. We’re about to eat some homemade pizza.
We took the long way into Edmonton, stopping back into Kananaskis so Mim could visit her gentleman tourguide one last time. We spent Friday night in the deep bear filled woods watching satelite TV.
Edmonton AB is another special home for us. Carl met the Uncas when he toured with Trole. Futch Uncas loves the Wack MC’s, and Wack MC’s love us. We are opening for the Wack MC’s tonight. The Uncas stay with us when they tour through Ontario.

Last night, we opened for legendary Canadian country-celtic-punk-abilly band, Captain Tracker. They are a pretty well-established band. We heard backstage stories about world tours and pre-napster CD sales. There was scotch, imported beers, and bottled water. They have a loyal crowd that danced late into the night.
Our opening slot went quite well. We played early for a dinner crowd, and they were receptive. Being back in Alberta, merchandise sales are back up. It was an incredibly fun evening.
We spent the night at Futch Uncas. In the morning, I went to a store with Ian, Futches roomate. The money floating around this province is incredible. It took Ian and I about 35 minutes in line to pay for grocery’s.

Loads of money, not enough service. Not enough housing to hold the service. Not enough housing to hold the construction workers to build housing for the service. Money, money everywhere, and difficult to spend. That's Alberta.
It is the Prairies that begins to break the morale of a touring band. We’ve got a long, long ride back to Southern Ontario. Last year, in Edmonton, Jen our merch girl looked into flying back to Toronto. She didn’t talk much after that point. Cindy expressed her exhaustion today, wondering about airfare.
