July 26th, 2006 - Whistler, BC
We left Vancouver and headed towards Whistler. Carl and Cindy stayed behind to visit the Vancouver Aquarium.

We spent the night with Jody 'Chini' Barron, brother of 'Bruiser' Barron. They're my old best friends from my teenage years hanging out in the industrial wastelands of Kitchener, On.
We had a gourmet lamb and shishkabob dinner on a Whistler deck overlooking Green Lake. After dinner Chini gave us a guided boat tour of Green Lake, surrounded by mountains Whistler, Blackcomb, Fitzsimmons and the like.

The next morning, we drove into the heart of our deepest fears. The Duffy Lake Pass. 13km straight up, and another 13km straight down the western ridge on the Rocky Mountains. Three years ago, we nearly lost our dear old van on the pass. The transmission smoked on the way up. The brakes smoked on the way down.
This year, being experienced mountain drivers, it was a breeze. No smoke, no hassle. Just one beautiful and rugged mountain drive.
